Annie

Annie began mtn. biking in 1994 on an over sized 'Raleigh' that she brought with her from the UK. With front and rear brakes on opposite handles in England, it was a bit a shock when she bought her first real mtn. bike, a true Canadian, a Norco. With that, the fun began and has continued off and on over the years with hiatus' for broken body parts and of course training for various half-marathons. (Annie's a little bit of a fitness freak, as there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by when she isn't exercising. Ten half marathons under her belt in the last 3.5 years and a whole pile more to be run).

Annie 'learned' to ride with her guy friends but turned to Women's Only for more technical training. "The guys just rode, I followed behind just ploughing through and peddling like the wind, often having difficulty doing/understanding how they did what they did. Of course they couldn't really explain what they did, they just did it. Women's Only gave me more confidence, a great skill set AND other women to ride with! It's a wonderfully safe environment and riding with other women gives your mtn. biking self confidence a boost that you just got get riding with the boys". Over the years she's travelled to many different places to ride including Moab, Sedona and Phoenix.

This year sees Annie's return to Women's Only as a coach for the beginner's class after having volunteered many times. With her easygoing demeanor and wacky, British sense of humour, you're sure to have fun in this class!
