Brenda D. Brenda D.

As a team member of Women's Only Mountain Biking, Brenda can contribute greatly to the organization. Through her education, employment and volunteer experiences, she has gained broad experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational, educational and social programs and events for people of all ages and abilities. She has her Bachelors in Physical Education (emphasis in sport and leisure administration) and a Leisure Development course diploma. She has worked in recreation in many different capacities since 1988. She is currently working for the Vancouver School Board as a Community School Coordinator at Bayview Community School.

Brenda is an outdoor enthusiast as she is passionate about mountain biking, skiing (downhill, backcountry, skating), hiking and camping. By teaching the Women's Only Mountain Biking beginner and intermediate courses, it is an opportunity for Brenda to share her enthusiasm of the outdoors with other women in the hopes that they may choose mountain biking as a lifelong recreational activity.

Brenda has been involved in Women's Only Mountain Biking in numerous ways. She has participated in the following: intermediate 2 & 3 courses; Whistler trips (as a participant and instructor); spinning; and workshops (bike maintenance, tricks and trials, and to introduction to racing).

Through the Women's Only Mountain Biking courses, Brenda greatly improved her mountain biking skills and confidence, as the learning environment is very supportive and non-threatening. Now as an instructor, Brenda strongly supports the Women's Only Mountain Biking concept as she has seen the recreational benefits the courses and workshops provide women to reach their potential in this sport.
